Powered by Kreedo Early Childhood Solutions

At New Bishop Cotton Public School, our Montessori program is an advanced, Activity Based Learning system seamlessly integrated with Kreedo. Kreedo is renowned globally as one of the best activity-based learning systems available today. It provides a highly structured, scientifically proven curriculum specifically designed to uplift and brilliantly ignite the tiny minds of our youngest students.

There are seven areas of learning and development. All areas of learning and development are deeply important and intricately interlinked.

Three areas are particularly important for forming the absolute basis of each child’s learning. We proudly call these the β€˜Prime’ areas. The curriculum for the early years in New Bishop Cotton consists of these 3 prime areas, covering the vital knowledge and skills which build the unshakeable foundations for children’s school readiness and future progress. These are then applied and reinforced by 4 more specific areas of development.

The 3 Prime Areas

Prime 1

Communication and Language

Development involves giving children immense opportunities to experience a rich, diverse language environment. We actively develop their confidence and foundational skills in expressing themselves, teaching children to gracefully speak and actively listen in a wide range of social and academic situations.

Prime 2

Physical Development

This involves providing robust opportunities for young children to be highly active and interactive. It significantly helps to develop their co-ordination, gross and fine motor control, and movement. Children are also expertly helped to understand the profound importance of physical activity and making healthy choices in relation to food.

Prime 3

Personal, Social & Emotional Development

This involves helping children to develop a highly positive sense of both themselves and others around them. It empowers them to form deeply positive relationships and develop profound respect for others; to develop crucial social skills and learn how to manage their feelings; to understand appropriate behaviour in groups; and to have unshakable confidence in their own abilities.

The 4 Specific Areas

There are also four specific areas, through which the three core prime areas are strengthened and practically applied.

1. Literacy

Development involves strongly encouraging children to link sounds and letters, helping them begin their journey to read and write. Children are given access to a wide range of reading materials (books, poems, and other written materials) to ignite their intellectual interest.

2. Mathematics

This involves providing children with practical opportunities to develop and continuously improve their skills in counting, understanding and using numbers, calculating simple addition and subtraction problems, and describing shapes, spaces, and measures.

3. Understanding the World

This involves safely guiding children to make sense of their physical world and their community by providing engaging opportunities to explore, observe, and find out about diverse people, global places, technology, and the environment.

4. Expressive Arts & Design

This involves enabling children to joyfully explore and play with a wide range of media and materials, providing encouragement for sharing their thoughts, ideas, and deep feelings through art, music, movement, dance, role-play, and design technology.
